Adolfo Hermosillo is a PhD candidate in Linguistics studying language variation and language change in non-standard varieties of Mexican Spanish and Latinx varieties of American English. His dissertation examines the language of food in cooking shows hosted by urban and rural content creators to analyze how interactionally meaningful communicative moves can, through repeated use, lead to significant changes in the linguistic system over time. He holds a B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of research, Adolfo enjoys dancing Bachata and cooking for his loved ones.
