Agnele Sewa

Agnele is a PhD candidate in the biochemistry department. She is a member of the Khosla lab where she investigates celiac disease, an autoimmune disease that doubles patients’ chances for developing coronary artery disease and quadruples their chance of getting small bowel cancer. Her studies focus on the protein-protein interactions that regulate the endocytosis of peptide bound Transglutaminase 2 in the presence of alpha-2 macroglobulin and its receptor, LRP1. She is an Atlanta Posse Scholar that graduated from Brandeis University in 2020. Outside of the lab, Agnele enjoys designing logos, exploring restaurants, and completing DIY projects.
