Ed'd Luna Bhagwandeen

Ed’d (they/them) studies simulation and discourse in teacher education. In particular, they are interested in technologically-mediated simulation and language models, which includes "role-play" (broadly construed) as a pedagogical method and its contributions to the development of metapragmatic models of racialized personhood in preservice teachers.

Their past experiences and research in libraries, classrooms, and curriculum design have led them to become interested in applications of student-figures in the schooling experiences of children in out-of-home care contexts. In particular, they study how new teachers are trained to respond to constructed imaginations of students formed over the lifecourse and concretized in the teacher education classroom with consequences for the educational choices afforded to linguistically-minoritized (which is to say racialized) students.
