Hope Leng
Hope T. Leng (she/her) is a Bioengineering PhD candidate and an NSF GRFP fellow. She is interested in increasing climate resilience in resource-constrained communities through designing processes that enable local manufacturing of fundamental health products. Her current projects include developing electricity-free diagnostics for neglected tropical diseases and biodegradable menstrual pads made from locally grown plants. As a transfer student at UC San Diego, she became invested in justice-oriented STEAM education and explored the intersection of science and humanities as a Bioengineering: Biotechnology major and Dance minor. Outside of research, she immensely enjoys trivia, musicals, and good book recommendations.
