Julia Costacurta

Julia is a PhD candidate in the Electrical Engineering department, funded by the National Science Foundation GRFP and Sang Samuel Wang Stanford Graduate Fellowship. In her research, she develops novel statistical modeling approaches which provide quantitative descriptions of neuroscience-related data. Outside of research, Julia is passionate about teaching and mentoring, and has been heavily involved with the School of Engineering’s Equity and Inclusion Initiatives Office since arriving at Stanford. Julia is a proud graduate of Johns Hopkins University, where she studied biomedical engineering and mathematics. In her free time, she enjoys reading fantasy novels and sewing her own clothes.
