Karen Bradshaw

Karen Bradshaw is a PhD Candidate in the Neuroscience Program and is mentored by Dr. Marion Buckwalter. Before graduate school, Karen received her B.S. in Neurobiology and Behavior at UC Irvine studying visual plasticity and then worked at UCLA researching stress and inflammation in breast cancer. Her experiences inspired her to study the roles of obesity in exacerbated stroke outcomes which are characterized by neuroinflammation and functional decline. She hopes to contribute to therapies that improve the lives of stroke patients, especially those in marginalized communities. When she’s not in the lab, Karen loves running and creating music.
