Leslie Patricia Luqueño

Leslie Patricia Luqueño (she/her) is a PhD candidate at Stanford’s Graduate School of Education, specializing in the Sociology of Education. She holds an M.A. in Sociology from Stanford University and a B.A. with honors in Anthropology and Educational Studies from Haverford College. Her research lies at the intersection of immigration, higher education, and family studies, with a focus on the experiences of the children of immigrants applying to college. At the heart of her research is the commitment to highlight the unique assets, values, and knowledge sets that immigrant families pass down to their children that help them survive and thrive across different contexts, particularly within higher education. At Stanford, she serves as a co-director of Resilient 1st Gen, a representative on the Graduate Student Council, a program development associate at the Center for Teaching and Learning, and the graduate student representative for the Stanford Alumni Association. Off-campus, she serves as a volunteer alumna interviewer for her alma mater and leads a series of college access efforts in Southeast Los Angeles. In addition to the RAISE fellowship, Leslie’s work is supported by the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship, the CCSRE Graduate Student Fellowship, and the Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education Fellowship.
