Sebastian Fernandez

Sebastian is a U.S. Department of Energy IBUILD Fellow, P. Michael Farmwald Stanford Graduate Fellow, GEM Fellow, and Ph.D. candidate in Electrical Engineering. He develops next-generation perovskite LEDs for lighting, display, quantum computing, and virtual reality applications. Specifically, he implements transition metal dopants to achieve high-brightness perovskite LEDs and chiral nanomaterials to enable circularly-polarized light emission. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Sebastian is the founder and president of the Stanford Engineering Research Introductions Organization, whose mission is to strategically prepare underrepresented minority students for graduate school. Outside of research, he enjoys playing the violin.
