Shameeka Wilson-Brown
Shameeka M. Wilson-Brown (she/her) is a Ph.D. candidate in Race, Inequality, and Language in Education. She was born in Williamston, NC, and cherishes her rural Southern upbringing. She received her B.S. in Professions in Deafness: K-12 Deaf and hard of hearing Teacher Licensure and M.Ed in Teacher Education – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro – holding teaching certifications in Deaf education, special education, and TESOL. Her research examines how cultural rhetoric and classroom banter interrogate normative models and school discipline participation frameworks for Black teachers and students.
