Victoria Melgarejo Vieyra
Victoria Melgarejo is a PhD candidate in the Race, Inequality, and Language in Education and Social Sciences, Humanities, and Interdisciplinary Policy Studies programs at the Graduate School of Education. Her research investigates how high school students designated as English learners conceptualize their own English proficiency. She examines the experiences of Latinx high school students who have navigated an English learner designation across most of their academic trajectories. Victoria completed her B.A. in Sociocultural Linguistics and Spanish from UC Santa Barbara. Outside of research she enjoys walking her dog and playing video games and board games.
