    StartX is an educational, non-profit business incubator associated with Stanford. The StartX accelerator program is designed to help entrepreneurs launch fledgling companies in a range of industries. StartX requires no fees and takes zero equity in companies.  There is also a StartX Med for medical entrepreneurship. To be accepted, at least one founder of your company must have a Stanford affiliation.  

    Admission is highly competitive and based on two rounds of interviews.

University of Virginia professor Melissa Thomas-Hunt details factors that undermine team performance, such as mistaking shared information for critical information and overweighting the contributions of high-status members. Thomas-Hunt offers solutions for overcoming these barriers to success by fully valuing members' unique forms of expertise.

    Often individuals feel they must assimilate or hide parts of who they are in order to be included and accepted. Covering is a strategy that downplays a known disfavored identity. Kenji Yoshino is an NYU Law Professor who presents "uncovering" as a new cultural paradigm of inclusion and diversity. This video emphasizes personal storytelling and finding common ground in order to build empathy and a truly authentic executive presence.
