As an instructor or TA, you are likely to find yourself working with students from highly diverse cultural, racial, socio-economic, gender, and linguistic backgrounds. Offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning, a small group feedback session (SGFS) is an excellent way to gather specific, useful mid-quarter feedback on your course. In the last twenty or so minutes of class, trained evaluator will visit your class and divide your students into groups that must each reach consensus about which aspects of the course are contributing to their learning and which need to be improved. The evaluator will then synthesize the results and share them with you in a private consultation.
